Mondays have become my favorite day of the week! I know most people hate Mondays, but I really like them. Mondays are my day off and I try really hard to guard this day from anything getting in the way of it – especially work. I get to spend all day with my wife without hardly any interruptions. We usually head to the WholeFoods in Boulder, or hangout at Borders, or go for walks. Sometimes we will have “some of our favorite things” at Starbucks and just enjoy the day and each others company.
I haven’t always enjoyed my day off! I used to be one of those people (Workaholics) that never rested, day or night – night or day, I was always thinking, always scheming, always dreaming of what to do next, or how to make things better. In many ways I still am that person, but I am learning to enjoy life in a little bit different way. I am learning that there is a time and a place for everything, whether it be work or play, each has it’s place in life. I am very blessed to be a part of the staff at LifeBridge – there is an expectancy to be productive and produce with excellence for the kingdom of God, yet at the same time they let us accomplish this in a way that works best for everyone. In a sense, they trust us to do our jobs and they know we can do it! This atmosphere allows me to also enjoy the other things that are precious and sacred to me.
Right now I am contemplating about going to grad school. This is something I really want to do, but first I am counting the cost, not just financially, but also on what it will do to my family-time, my free-time, my me-time. I don’t want anything getting in the way of “some of my favorite things!”(This is something new to me)
For now, Mondays are my favorite day of the week 🙂
